What’s Going on with I-55? Details are Here!

At our December 13th general membership meeting, the AHCA welcomed a few team members from the IDOT I-55 Managed Lane Project. AHCA is the only civic group on the Southwest Side to host this sort of presentation, and we had a great turnout. And that’s a good thing, because this project will not only affect our community, but all the communities along the Stevenson!

We’re sure that all of you have endured the pain of traveling on I-55 as of late; the congestion is noticeably thicker than in years past, which is why this project was created in the first place.

At the meeting, the IDOT team had a PowerPoint presentation, several detailed display boards and six-foot maps, and also unveiled facts about the uptick in the Stevenson’s traffic patterns from I-355 to the Jane Byrne interchange. Most importantly, the IDOT team put to rest the rumor that the Stevenson was being converted into a tollway. It is not; but there will be two additional lanes added in each direction that will be toll lanes.
