You may have noticed a few projects under way in our neighborhood recently. Here’s the scoop on two specific ones:
Water Main Replacement on Kedzie
Per Ald. Burke’s office, “the Department of Water Management and Benchmark Construction Crews began work to install 2,659 feet of a new 8-inch water main on South Kedzie Avenue from west 59th to west 63rd Street.” Apparently, the old one is from 1913, so this replacement is long overdue. In the meantime, though, try to find an alternate route if you commute near or through this area.
Detour at 76th & Pulaski
Word is still trickling in on this one, via our neighbors in West Elsdon, but we surmise that the 76th Street pedestrian bridge may be getting a much-needed overhaul as well. More on this as it develops – for now, try to find an alternate route between 75 and 79th.
