Last night, we hosted, in partnership with United Credit Union and Mind+Hand, the first-ever Southwest Small Biz Summit…and we had a great turnout!
Your neighbors gathered to discuss issues facing them as business owners (or aspiring business owners) specifically on the southwest side. We chatted about development, expansion, and challenges facing each unique business, offering advice and introductions.
The organizers of this event, Jaime Groth Searle of AHCA, Mayra Avila of United Credit Union, and Jesus Magaña of Mind+Hand, kicked things off with a quick introduction of their own organizations before opening up the floor to discussion. AHCA is proud to say that we also offered these entrepreneurs a way to gain some free exposure, via our upcoming Welcome Kit initiative, which would enable them to place their advertisement into a kit sent to new residents of Archer Heights on behalf of this association.
About halfway through, we enjoyed a networking reception complete with wine and pizza, courtesy of Angelo’s Stuffed Pizza. Adrian, the owner of this Archer Heights favorite, also helped this committee organize the event, but was unable to join the fun – duty called!
We’d also like to extend a BIG HUGE THANKS to Jorge Garza Norrick for these fantastic photos, which he went above and beyond to capture.
We are definitely looking forward to bringing this event to you on a more regular basis, so stay tuned, and be sure to reach out to Jaime or Tom if you’d like to join the organizing committee to help us plan the next one.
