It’s tougher than ever to be a small business owner. So many of our friends and neighbors are upwardly mobile, and have great ideas, but no network in the area to help them obtain the resources to get it going.
A small group of us decided to organize a Small Biz Summit between Archer Heights and West Elsdon to help harness this energy into some serious development on the Southwest Side. That small group consists of Jaime Groth Searle of the AHCA, Mayra Avila of United Credit Union and Jesus Magana of Mind+Hand.
The purpose of the event is to connect long-time business owners with budding entrepreneurs, and young talent rising from Mind+Hand. During these meetings, which we hope to hold quarterly, we’ll invite city officials and private sector specialists to help attendees tackle the hardest parts of starting and/or maintaining a business in our area.
The inaugural meeting will be held at Mind+Hand on Wednesday, October 17, from 6-7:30pm, and admission is FREE. We simply request that you RSVP on our Eventbrite page, so we have an accurate headcount and can plan accordingly.
