PUBLIC MEETING: Archer Ave Grade Separation Study

Phase 1 of the Archer Avenue Grade Separation Study is complete, and we’ve gotten word that the project has received clearance from FHWA and IDOT to present the preferred alternative to the public.

If you just went, “Huh?” you’re not alone!

Here’s what that study aims to do for us, per the official website: “This study will explore the opportunity to build an underpass or overpass at the intersection of Archer Avenue and the Belt Railway Company of Chicago (BRC) railroad, in the communities of Archer Heights and Garfield Ridge, to eliminate the existing at-grade crossing where the railroad and roadway intersect at the same level. The elimination of the at-grade crossing will improve safety and mobility through the corridor for all users, including motorists, pedestrians, cyclists and the railroad by reducing delays caused by train movements.”

Please join us to hear the details on these plans, and how it will improve traffic in our very congested neighborhood. This public meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 18  from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Richard’s Parish to provide residents with an opportunity to share their input.
